Size: 25.15mm x 34.15mm
Supply Voltage: 5V
Video Input:  RGBHS or YPbPr
Audio Input: Analog or SPDIF Audio
Video Output: HDMI
Latency: Less than 1ms

This tiny, power-packed module takes in a VGA or Component signal (depending on the version) and outputs an HDMI signal with an embedded analog or SPDIF audio front-end for use in your smallest of projects.  This design is a higher quality, smaller, and more efficient version of the widely available analog-to-digital modules that are available online.  If you are not happy with those modules, then you will absolutely be happy with these.

The VGA-input mode can accept any resolution from VGA to UXGA and does not provide any internal scaling of the image. The Component-input mode can accept any resolution video signal up to 1080p60 and does not provide any internal scaling of the image.

This board can take in either SPDIF or analog audio. The SPDIF audio format can be Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and it is embedded over the video output for use with any surround sound system connected to your TV.

This device typically consumes <300mA in all use cases; however, you should test this design in your system before designing a specific regulator.

  • Supports 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p25/30/50/60, 1080i50/60, 1080p24/25/30/50/60.
  • Supports RGB graphics from VGA to UXGA

Please be aware that these boards contain components that are sensitive to ESD strikes.  Be sure to handle these using proper ESD handling techniques.

Latency

We used a Time Sleuth to measure the latency that this module adds during its analog-to-digital conversion.

All measurements were done with a 7" Loncevon HDMI monitor with the Time Sleuth output resolution set to 1080p @ 60Hz.

PS2 Fat in HD

Enjoyed wiring this up on my PS2. Only wish my soldering skills were a little better and everything looked cleaner. Overall very nice upgrade and recommended.

Still needs some work

I installed it in a PS2 slim. The wiring is easy, everything is marked. It worked fine with a small portable monitor. Then I found some problems: a couple of times the sound started to distort, it got corrected with a reset. Also the video, when I load McBoot looks stripped, when I enter in open loader it corrects. Looks like sometimes switching video modes has issues.
The last, but for me most important, it doesn't work with my LG TV. It doesn't detect the signal. When I try with a cheap chinese PS2 HDMI adapter the TV works.

Super Fast!!!

Haven’t finished installing but from all the research I’ve done I believe it won’t disappoint. As far as processing and shipping it was here ahead of schedule.

Best Hdmi Adapter Ever

I received the adapter opened it up I could see the quality in this board. It has great solder points. Something complex made very simple and extremely well. I did a wires install on My Og Xbox and i will tell you right now. Super impressed the blacks are black there is no Scan lines I could actually see the difference in the color on Halo 2 it has a beautiful picture. I have installed quite a few adapter board wii to hdmi and yes Makemhz overpriced chip and i put both side by side and i could not see a difference... except in how much money ran out of my wallet with Makemhz. 20 bucks versus 150.... You tell me? This little chip is banging and if you have your doubts.... DON'T you will be impressed By this little marvel. It was easy to use easy to understand and well worth every dollar. If you are in the market for an hdmi mod YOU WANT THIS... Believe me.I have been around modding since the og xbox. I am no kid and have built alot of equipment i am very impressed with this and you will be too...

I'm not sure if mine is faulty

I purchased the Electron Analogue with the hope that I can make a simple component to hdmi box. It was pretty easy, however when I started using it, I noticed that the blacks do not seem very stable. I can see alot of noise, horizontal lines when the screen is black, especially on the ps2 home screen. I reached out to electron shepard but did not recieve a response. Don't get me wrong the colors when it's not black, are crisp, but based what I have experienced, I do not believe I will be buying another one.

Hi Peter -

Thank you for your review! Horizontal lines (especially when black) can be caused by improperly shielded/noisy analog inputs as well as a noisy 5V power supply.

Hopefully that feedback helps you determine the issue with your setup!
