NEW! All units sold from Electron Shepherd since June 2026 now include LEDs that indicate the detection of input video signals and an output HDMI™ connection.

  • When an input video connection is made and detected, then the IN LED will be illuminated.
  • When an output video connection is made and detected, then the OUT LED will be illuminated.

This tiny, power-packed module takes in a VGA or Component signal (depending on the version) and outputs an HDMI™ signal with an embedded analog or SPDIF audio front-end for use in your smallest of projects.  This design is a higher quality, smaller, and more efficient version of the widely available analog-to-digital modules that are available online.  If you are not happy with those modules, then you will absolutely be happy with these.

This device does not provide any internal scaling of the image.

This board can take in either SPDIF or analog audio. The SPDIF audio format can be Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and it is embedded over the video output for use with any surround sound system connected to your TV.

This device typically consumes <300mA in all use cases; however, you should test this design in your system before designing a specific regulator.

Technical Specifications

Size: 25.15mm x 34.15mm
Supply Voltage: 5V
Video Input: RGBHS or YPbPr
Audio Input: Analog or SPDIF Audio
Video Output: HDMI™
Latency: Less than 1ms!!

A Time Sleuth was utilized to measure the time it took for the ElectronAnalog to process an input video and convert it to a crisp video output. The entire delay time (lag/latency) was 0.23ms which is less than 2% of a frame for a typical 60Hz video stream!

Safety information / Informations de sécurité / Sicherheitshinweise / Veiligheidsinformatie:

EN: Use HDMI cables shorter than 3 m. If an external supply is used, use a compliant regulated 5 V supply. Electronics contain static-sensitive parts: handle by the case. Do not dispose of electronics with household waste (crossed-out bin): use a WEEE collection point.
