This tiny, power-packed module takes in a VGA or Component signal (depending on the version) and outputs an HDMI 1.3 signal with an embedded analog or SPDIF audio front-end for use in your smallest of projects. This design is a higher quality, smaller, and more efficient version of the widely available Wii2HDMI modules and VGA2HDMI modules that are available online. If you are not happy with those modules, then you will absolutely be happy with these. The RGB VGA module can accept any resolution from VGA to UXGA and does not provide any internal scaling of the image. The Component module can accept any resolution video signal up to 1080p60 and does not provide any internal scaling of the image.
Version 2 – This device can now take in either SPDIF or analog audio. The SPDIF audio format can be Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and it is embedded over the video output for use with any surround sound system connected to your TV.
This device typically consumes <300mA in all use cases; however, you should test this design in your system before designing a specific regulator.
