ElectronWarp - Wii

Got several of these for some Wiis that I plan on selling, and all tested just fine. Should be a great alternative to the good component cables that are becoming increasingly scarce, as well as for TVs that don't have those inputs. The case does rattle slightly on some of them, but this does not affect how they function at all.

One note: if your TV/monitor is claiming that the input is "out of range" or something similar, you will need to switch to 480p in the Wii's settings (Settings > System Settings > Screen > TV Resolution > "ETV/HD 480p"). That's the only major hiccup, as some HDTVs/monitors won't support 480i.

I don't really have much to say about this product but that's why it's so good. I plugged it in and it does exactly what it needs to do. It provides a crisp 480p image into my TV with no input lag. I tested it with both Wii and GameCube games and both look awesome. My TV does have a component input, but this looks better than that. Recommended.

This product is exactly what you need to use for your modern television that uses hdmi. No power cord necessary, just the adapter and an hdmi cord and your all set!

Also, the product and company have creative names, refreshing in the age of some retailers’ fictitious brand names.

Regarding the Electron Warp HDMI adapter I bought, unfortunately I was disappointed with the purchase. My first impression was hurt by its loose, shaky casing, and the label was crooked, as if slapped on. (Maybe it shifted in transit?)

But the deflating aspect was, the adapter has duller color than other connection styles I’ve tried. I have a 2010 Family Edition Wii (modified to turn off Nintendo’s deflicker filter), running to a mClassic and into a 40” Samsung LED flat panel (1920x1080 max res.)

I first tried the Portholic Wii2HDMI adapter and was pleased with the results but then I tried highly-rated component cables and they performed better than the Portholic in color and clarity. When I saw Electron Shepherd beating Mayflash and Sewell in Youtube comparison videos, I thought I had found the best of that tier and hoped it would get my Homebrewed Wii reaching the clarity many Youtubers have been able to achieve without —seemingly— the help of the OSSC, RT-5X, etc.) but it was not to be.

The small size of the ES adapter is a masterstroke though and wins that category easily. For that reason I decided to keep it in my chain and just boost the TV’s Color setting.
